unimaginable hardships. Worldwide 65 million people are fleeing their home as it is not safe enough to stay.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Each shoe holds the story of the person who wore it.\u00a0 What is that story?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">War and conflicts have been going on since the beginning of humanity; but why? No war has resolved a problem. It may put it on hold for a while but inevitably it will raise its head again and the reaction is to renew the conflict.<\/span><\/p><p>At the start of the 20th century, 10% of those killed in war were civilians. Today, the reverse is true: 90% of those killed in war are civilians.<\/p><p>Wars are fought on the decision of those in power or seeking power and using the rest of the population to bear the brunt of those decisions. The horrors and traumas which are experienced in war endure though ages. \u00a0As individuals or groups, there is a lot we can do to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war. We have all the potential tools, skills and laws needed to abolish war. So why do we continue to wreck such devastation on humanity and the whole world?<\/p><p><em>\u201cWhat difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?\u201d<\/em><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/author\/show\/5810891.Mahatma_Gandhi\"><em>Mahatma Gandhi<\/em><\/a><\/p><p><strong>The land never forgets.
