Cambrian Mountain Lead Mine Memory Sculpture Return

Work has been ongoing for a while on responding to the stories, histories, imaginations about the lead mines in the Cambrian Mountains. How they have affected to landscape, what those scars tell, what lies beneath the ground unseen, what stories are not told, how do different interpreters look at the landscape and its history?

I have been working on three different mine area, Cwmystwyth, Plynlimon and Teifi pools/drover road to Rhayader. I returned a sculpture; made of mine spoil and the materials of the land surrounding the mine to Cwmystwyth a few months ago – while snow fell. Yesterday (June 17th 2014) I returned two sculptures made from mine spoil and the mountains raw materials to the Plynlimon Lead Mine. What is sculpture? What is spoil? What is rock and earth and landscape?
